Cardinal Quiroga Palacios was the driving force behind the construction of this building, which began in 1952 with the aim of covering the educational and academic needs of the diocese of Compostela. Six years later, in 1958, the complex was inaugurated, which at that time housed more than a thousand seminarians.

Located on the hill of Belvís and neighbouring the convent of the Dominicans, from here you can enjoy one of the most impressive views of the historic quarter and the Cathedral. One of the highlights of the building is the central tower, located on the façade of the church, which is 30 metres high.

At the foot of the building is the Belvís Park, a green border that separates the Belvís Convent and the Minor Seminary from the historic quarter, like a natural boundary with the medieval city. The park perfectly complements the life of the neighbourhood and, among other activities, the Entre Lusco e Sombrío market has been held every Tuesday for years, specialising in local, organic, and fair-trade products.

Today the grounds of the Minor Seminary of the Assumption hold the school, the Children's House and also a pilgrims' hostel.
